How to Develop Persistence.There are four simple steps which lead to the habit of persistence. They call for no great amount of intelligence, no particular amount of education, and but little time or effort. The necessary steps are:1. A definite purpose backed by burning desire for its fulfillment.2. A definite plan, expressed in continuous action.3. A mind closed tightly against all negative and discouraging influences, including negative suggestions of relatives, friends and acquaintances.4. A friendly alliance with one or more persons who will encourage one to follow through with both plan and purpose.
These four steps are essential for success in all walks of life. The entire purpose of the principles of the (Think and Grow Rich) philosophy is to enable one to take these four steps as a matter of habit.
What you need to develop persistence is will-power and desire. In other words, how bad do you want it? And how far are you willing to go to get it? Unless the answer is all the way, you will not persist, you will give up.

Mortgage Investors Grumble Over Obama Plan

Investors in mortgages are squawking over President Barack Obama’s $75 billion plan to stabilize the housing market and reduce foreclosures.They say elements of it are unfair to them and some are threatening suit.

"Investors are given rights through the contracts in the securities, and we expect those rights to be honored," said Jeffrey Gundlach, chief investment officer of TCW Group Inc., which manages about $52 billion in residential mortgage-backed securities.

Investors are particularly critical of any effort that allows people who lied on their initial application to get help, and they dislike plans that rewrite first mortgages but leave second mortgages untouched. About half of delinquent subprime borrowers also have a second loan, according to Credit Suisse Group.

They say reworking the first mortgage gives the holder of the second an unfair advantage since second mortgages are supposed to be junior to the first. Under the plan, critics, say, second mortgages may be repaid earlier.Source: The Wall Street Journal, Ruth Simon (03/12/2009)
